Ken is in Manchester tonight playing with Jeff Klein and his band. Free run of the house, stereo, cars, remote control, guitars,etc...it's a party in my head. Texas is so hot this week that I am up to 6 popsicles a day. Sad but true.

Physical therapy and rehab are really going well and I have almost made a full recovery. While I was out of commission I started a new series of purses and you should be seeing them in downtown Austin soon, if you haven't already. I have been selling so many out of my house that I had to buckle down to get ready for a big old debut next month. More about that later...I can't spill all of the beans now. I wanted to thank everyone out there for your support, concern and good 'vibing' energy throught out the past few months (and, years). You all rock!

Yeehaw! Still hanging in there. Had a round of short gigs this week and have been able to play 20 minute sets of electric guitar. My new doctor has me hooked up to a bondage type of traction device to try and release my median nerve. Seems to be working. Tonight, Ken is playing with Jeff Klein at the Cactus Cafe at 9PM. Last night we saw an old friend, Jesse Sykes from Seattle (check her out if you don't know her) Michael Penn and Daniel Lanois with Richie Havens. Wow! What a night.

Yikes! It's been a while and for good reason. Sadly, as alot of ya'll might know, I was injured in a sledgehammer/wet carpet pulling accident in my home in early January. Although I have been undergoing physical therapy and spinal injections for the last couple of months, I have been unable to fully use my left arm yet. At first playing guitar was painful and is slowly becoming impossible without going under the knife. In the next couple of days I will find out more about treatment options and expect to be out and about playing Twisted Sister songs in no time at all. I have some tentative dates scheduled during SXSW so check back. All is going to work out. It's just going to be a matter of time. Peace.

Alas, an update. Yes, I have finally crawled out of the neverending pile of papers, candy wrappers and dirty clothes. Who says all gals are neat and tidy...well they've never been to my casa. "..Snootyfish" has been doing a great job getting around the world, from Denmark to Seattle to Japan. Soon, I will pick up my trusty tour guitar and hit the highway again. Yeah! Although I love the dust here it's always better somewhere else. Maybe 'cuz I'll never have to clean it up. hmmmm...more later.

What a beautiful day here in Austin. We have been having great time this month watching Jengurl go up the college radio charts. It's kind of like watching a baby learn how to talk. Soon we will be crawling, walking, jogging, getting into trouble, staying out late and causing overall havoc. Once again, a beautiful day in Austin. :-)

Last night I saw Beck play at a local high school and it was amazing. Very inspirational fella with a great sense of humor. If you ever have a chance to see him in a raw acoustic setting setting I highly suggest checking him out...very groovy.

I adore a lazy Saturday. Ice cream for lunch and just finishing off some of those "I'll get to it one day" projects. The new Penguinville office are finally getting a little less disorganized although, I dare not call it organized. I am still typing on a keyboard buried in paperwork to complete or file. The last few weeks have been great, doing some intimate shows at the Iron Cactus up north, meeting new folks and playing with my new guitar, Pinky. You can see a new photo of Pinky and me at http://www.daisyrock.com/artists/artists_main.htm. This is the Daisy Rock guitar website, who are the creators of this groovy guitar. Very rockin' axes with gorgeous lines and colors. I also like the fact that they design guitars for women and young girls via size, shape and colors.

Cool.

Well, that vacation is over. As SXSW approaches Austin is bustling with activity in the music community again.Woohoo! Today I will laying some tracks for Mark of Flipside Den for his new upcoming album. I will let you know when it comes out cause it sounds great. For those of you out there that haven't heard, Dewato has broken up. Sad I know. Although we still do have some of their albums here if you want one. Sniff. Two of the guys (Cole and Ryan) have formed a band called Watershed and are playing around town. Ken is now playing and touring with the infamous Jeff Klein and Kevin is now on tour with his old/new band, Gnappy. All is well that ends kind of well. Thelma and I are are just hanging out thinking it is time to get our booties working again. Just wanted to let you know I'm alive. Talk to you soon.

Well, tonight is the last Girls Room at Momos but never fear, the show will go on. We are moving the series to a secret new space...details later. Soon, I will also be making a small appearance in NY with friend Adam Stoke, who will be playing at a CMJ showcase. It will cool to be back in NY again and I am going to try to do a small show on the side as well. If anyone has any ideas or wants to know more please feel free to email me. There will be a a guitar show that weekend as well...so I may need to pack an extra suitcase. My friend Scrappy, said he saw me on VH1 the other day. Thank god it wasn't the "Way are they now" series. Whew. It was a show about Lilith. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to see it. Maybe soon...

Wow. I had a great time again in Toronto, Canada at NXNE and met some really nice folks. The show went very smoothly and I wanted to thank everyone for coming out and being so cool. Thank you. I bought a ton of stuff again. This time I went to Kensington Market. I finally found it. They had more vintage Texas wear than in Austin. I couldn't believe it and the prices rocked. I barely had the money to get back home but we made it. Toronto-you are beautiful!

I am sooo excited about getting up north to Toronto. I expect the weather to be much better than here in Austin, TX. This time Scrappy and I will be taking a plane instead of trusty Vinnie, the chevy van. We are going in style. rock on. Hell must have frozen over at some point and I missed it. Distracted by that flying pig and all. I swore it would be hard to travel to shows via plane but it ain't so bad afterall. Certainly not. It will be great to see alot of the folks I met last year and in past tours. Toronto is one of my favorite cities. Great food, shopping and atmosphere. I can't wait.

What an amazing and wonderful month! Thanks so much to all of you who have encouraged and supported me. None of this would have happened without you. The Girls Room shows were a smashing success and continue to grow. We received great support from KUT's John Aielli, KLBJ's Bob and Dudley, KOOPS's Mookie, the Austin American Statesman, Austin's Citysearch.com and the Chronicle. The response has been so overwelming some of us are thinkg about taking the show on the road. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to forward them to me at jengurl@penguinville.com or theaustingirlsroom@yahoo.com. I have also received the honor that I will be returning to Toronto in June for NXNE as a showcasing artist. I had such a great time last year and can't wait to return and see some familiar faces. Not to mention, devouring veggie hotdogs from all of the street vendors. And did I mention shoppong...hmm...shopping. I am really excited, can you tell? Thank you again for everything and I will talk to you again soon.

The first Girls Room was a smashing success. It was great to see all that talent in one room and it was very inspirational. I am busy working on the next one which will be equally thrilling I'm sure. The new record "Snootyfish" has been getting tons of positive response. I have been crazy busy here just trying to keep up so it looks like it maybe time again to get some help around the office. Maybe a butler hmmmm.....

3/30/01

Thank you so much to everybody that has been buying the new cds. I am so happy by the response. The t-shirts have been running out the door and will soon be sold out for good. I have been trying to do limited runs on each design so each one is special. The band and I had a great roadtrip to Denton last week and got to visit with Pearl and Kelly, thank you so much for everything. It was the first roadtrip with this new band incarnation and we had a blast. We even stopped for kolaches twice at exit 353 off 35. Today Scrappy and I are starting to work on some new stuff and map out ideas for the next album which I hope to release much quicker this time. So I had better get a good head start. Off to work...I will talk to you soon.

They are here!!!! The new cds are in and they are swanky. The design is a little more punky than the last album, which is cool. Yippee! I could scream.

3/7/01

I have been a bad girl (as Fiona Apple would say) by not writing for a couple weeks. Although I have tons of great stuff going on. Penguinville Records and I are starting a groovy new series at Momos in Austin. It's called the Girls Room and it will feature multiple female singer/songwriters in a couple circles. It's gonna rock. There will be more stuff related to that coming up soon. The new records "snootyfish" will be in stock any day now. I finally purchased a great new piano so expect to hear some of that on the next record which is already in preproduction. I know, I'm a nut. I had better get back to work.

Talk to ya soon.

2/13/01

Well, it's been a while since the last time I wrote, we had a little problem with the website but it's all cleared up now. The new record is still at the pressing plant but should be ready any day now. Thanks for all the support to the you folks that wrote and said "hi". This new record has been a long time coming but will be worth it. I will be playing a Yoko Ono hoot night this Saturday night (2/17/01) at Gaby n' Mos and have a band set at Speakeasy on Sunday (2/28/01) if anyone is in Austin and wants to hear a sneak peak of the new tunes. Well, it's off to work. Talk to ya' soon.

-jengurl

1/19/01

Well it's January 19th about 9:30 AM and I'm about to go to the studio to finish mastering the new record. After that, we will finish art layout over the weekend and it's off to the pressing plant. Last week's show at Gaby n Mos was great. Thanks so much to all you folks who came out. I am hoping to get out on the road in the next couple of months...when the weather warms up. No one wants to see Jengurl driving a van in the snow. Not a pretty sight. Well, I had better get ready....until next time....keep on rockin'

1/05/01

Wow! Will Sexton's new album rocks! Thats what I think anyways. ..and you thats all that counts...right? Oh well, anyhooo, the new Dewato album has landed at #3 in the Austin American Statesman's top new bands for 2000. Yippee! Another point for the indies that rock. The new Jengurl album is finally mixed and being mastered...I can't quite believe it, but its true. For those you on the egroup mailing list, I will send a new track again soon. I must now, work on artwork...hmmm....maybe a duck cover....nah...

Dec 13, 2000

Wow! Christmas is approaching and for the first time I think I am ready. Yeahaw! News around the office is steady. Jengurl has now been added to Napster's new discovered artists. Its a cool section that allows folks who are looking for new artists in certain genres to link to undiscovered indies. So, if you are looking from some mp3s, you are likely to find them there. I like technology...now if I could just understand it. We will be adding an additional mp3 on the site in the next few weeks from the new album. If you didn't get the last unreleased track, send me an email and sign up for the egroup to make sure you get the new one. Well, I had better get back to the drawing board. Talk to you soon!

Dec 4, 2000

It is finally here. A diary page. Ken, thank you so much for all your work in building the groovy new site. Very cool. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of good stuff. The west coast tour was a ton of fun. Thanks so much to the folks who came out and wrote in their support. The next album is still in the works and we have finally rounded the corner to having completed all the songs. Now we are just turning dials and tweaking, mastering and then printing. I am so happy I could burst. On Dec 11th, Jengurl will be featured on the internet show "Jamie's Way" which can be viewed at www.jamiesway.com. I got to see a sneak peak of the show and I have to say its really cool. Especially to see one my songs through another persons eyes. Its pretty thrilling. I've been doing a little filming of my own lately. I just got an old 8mm camera and did some shooting on the last road trip. The folks at Mable Peabody's in Denton even helped out and shot some live footage. Although the camera doesn't capture sound, hopefully I can figure something out and put it up on the site as well. Maybe after the album is done. ;-)

Hopefully, I can keep in better touch with everyone here on this diary page. I will let you know what's up here at Penguinville Records and with the new album and tours. And anything else I can think of. Thanks so much for everyone's love and support....keep on rockin'
