Since its inception, Dewato has been
making inroads into the Southwestern US music scenes.
Based out of Austin (Texas), the band has thrived
on its combination of infectious alternative rock
guitars, powerful rhythm section, and sweet pop harmonies.
The band’s powerful live shows have allowed it to
gather an enthusiastic cult following, all the while
purveying its own unique brand of rock (most often
compared to such bands as The Goo Goo Dolls, The Replacements,
and The Posies).
Dewato
is comprised of Ryan Carter (vocals, guitar), Cole
Hanson (guitar, backing vocals), Ken Schatz (bass)
and Kevin Pearson (drums, percussion), each bringing
to the band a wealth of talent and experience. Collectively,
the members have shared the stage with the likes of
Better Than Ezra, Fishbone, Sunny Day Real Estate,
Brian Setzer, Gibby Haynes, Will and Charlie Sexton,
Kristen Barry, The Posies, Sky Cries Mary, Presidents
of the United States of America and many others.
Presently,
Dewato is hard at work supporting their debut album
“Demonstration”, co-produced by Mark Addison (The
Borrowers, Kitty Gordon). They are receiving strong
local airplay and are a current fixture on 101X radio’s
“The Next Big Thing” new music showcase, where the
single “Shaman” was tabbed #29 on the Top 50 of 2000.
Additionally, Dewato was recently honored by the Austin
American-Statesman’s 2000 AMP Awards, being named
one of the “Best New Acts” while “Demonstration” was
named one of the “Albums of the Year”.
